02 May REVIEW: YVES SAINT LAURENT FUSION INK FOUNDATION
September last year while in New York for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week I picked up the new YSL Fusion Ink Foundation on one of my shopping trips. The foundation hadn’t yet been released in Australia so I thought I would give it a go. The YSL lady at Bergdorf Goodman told me that this foundation is so good you won’t have to set it with powder, and it will last all day long without having to retouch or reapply. Of course being a make-up artist I was intrigued and bought the foundation.
When first applying the foundation I was amazed, it definitely “feels light as a feather and wears like ink”. The formula itself is weightless and honestly when wearing it, it’s as if I’m not wearing a single drop of foundation. I have normal to combination skin and can get quite oily in the T-zone during the day. However when wearing this foundation I don’t have to apply any setting powder at all to avoid shininess.
When applying the foundation to your skin it feels soft and matte, there is no stickiness to the skin. You can touch your face throughout the day and it will not transfer onto your fingers. It is great for us girls who get make up on everything. It’s hard to believe the foundation itself can last 24 hours but I believe it’s possible. When I go out at night I would normally take my day make up off and reapply a fresh face…waste of make up right? Well with this foundation all I need to do is touch up around my mouth, apply my contour, highlighter, lashes and a fresh coat of lipstick and I’m ready to go.
The YSL Fusion Ink foundation definitely works for me and my skin. It is never cakey or heavy and like it says it really does wear like ink without making your skin feel heavy. Another thing I love about this foundation and the YSL beauty brand is that they cater for all skin tones. I have inherited very fair skin so over the years I have always struggled with finding the right foundation that would suit my colouring, and YSL has never failed me. They cater for the fairest to the darkest skin tones and their formulas are suitable for all skin types. This foundation is a must have! As a make up artist I will continue to try and test new foundations, but I will always have this foundation in my kit and in my personal make up bag.
Yves Saint Laurent Fusion Ink Foundation retail price: $85.00
