28 Apr HOW TO GET YOUR SKIN WINTER READY
The cooler weather is finally upon us and winter is on its way, we say a sad goodbye to summer for another year and open our arms to a gloomy winter, said no one ever! I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with winter, I love that with the change of season comes a change of fashion and beauty. I can pull on my favourite leather boots and a cozy oversized knit and pop on my favourite plum lip. Although I love the winter fashion and beauty I hate what the cooler months do to my skin. Having sensitive skin is a major con in winter as my skin is prone to dryness and irritation something my skin and I do not enjoy. So before the cool snap hits it’s time to get my skin winter prepped and ensure it’s fully hydrated for the cooler months to come.
In winter you will find that your skin craves just that bit more moisture, so it’s definitely the time of year where you can indulge in some rich skincare products to protect and nurture your skin.
Serum: L’Occitane Sublime Essence $58 Face serums are an incredibly popular skincare category at the moment, and the best serums can provide amazing results. Serums contain ingredients that help fight environmental damage to the skin, thus are essential to be using one for the cooler months. L’Occitane’s Subline Essence is a skin perfecting serum, which visibly leaves skin looking and feeling flawless. It helps to correct skin irregularities and refine pores. After using this product for less than a week my skin felt and looked incredible, it left my skin feeling plump and velvety soft. Apply serums before your face moisturizer; always start your skincare routine from the lightest product to the heaviest.
Eye Cream: Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream $75 Eye cream has become a must in my skincare routine morning and night. Although I am young I find it essential once you reach your twenties to start protecting your eye area, as the thin fragile skin around the eye contour is the first sign of aging. Not that I’m too concerned about that yet I still want to protect my eye area. The eye area has the thinnest and most fragile skin on the entire face as it lacks sebaceous glands, collagen and elastin fibers. This is why you need to be extra gentle when applying eye cream. Bobbi Brown’s Hydrating Eye Cream minimizes the look of fine, dry lines and absorbs quickly into the skin making it easy to apply. When applying eye cream to the eye area you don’t want to rub it into the skin, using your ring finger lightly dab the product around the eye area this is gentle yet effective as it get the blood circulating around the eye area preventing the appearance of tiredness or puffiness.
Face Cream: L’Occitane Shea Ultra Rich Face Cream $58 In winter your skin craves that extra bit of thirst for moisture meaning you can use a richer face cream. Shea butter is a natural beauty balm and L’Occitane’s Ultra Rich Face Cream is specifically formulated to help nurture and protect dry skin. This is my go-to product for winter I love applying it at night as it soothes and hydrates my skin eliminating the feeling of tightness and discomfort.
Hand Cream: Grown Alchemist Intensive Hand Cream: Persian Rose & Argan Extract $27.95 During wintertime your hands can become extremely dry from the weather due to heated air conditioning which can have a bad impact on our skin. Rubbing hand cream into my hands daily is essential to avoid dry hands and torn cuticles, I always carry a tube of the Grown Alchemist Hand Cream in my bag and a tube on my bedside table. This hand cream I love for winter or anytime of the year, as it’s a rich hydrating hand cream that instantly absorbs into the skin without leaving a greasy feel.
Lip Balm: Grown Alchemist Watermelon & Vanilla Lip Balm/Lip Scrub: Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub 9.95: Lush Bubblegum lip scrub is great to use to gently scrub away dry, rough skin off the lips keeping your lips smooth and kissable. After using a lip scrub apply a hydrating lip balm to condition your lips. Grown Alchemist’s watermelon and Vanilla lip balm is rich in antioxidants and vitamins that leave the lips soft and hydrated while nourishing and protecting. These two products I could not live without that are the perfect combination for ensuring you have soft smooth lips.
