29 Dec How to Fake Flawless Skin
With the silly season over and New Years on it’s way I’m sure we can all agree that some… probably most of us went pretty hard. With all the food we ate and the alcohol we consumed your probably feeling a bit ew. I know since Christmas my skin has been looking a bit drab and overall I just haven’t felt my fabulous self. With NYE just around the corner I need my skin to be back into shape. So how do I achieve that perfect skin look with only days till NYE?
1: Drink plenty of water: This is going to help rehydrate my skin and slowly renew some of my damaged skin cells. Try to drink at least two liters during the day. If you’re someone who dislikes the taste of water try drinking sparkling or adding lemon or frozen berries to disguise the taste. This is another way to add in a few antioxidants to your average glass of water.
2: Sleep: Since Christmas I have been staying up late and retiring to my bed early hours of the morning…definitely not good for you’re skin. Try going to bed at a reasonable hour to give your body enough rest; this will definitely impact on your skin.
3: Cleansing: If you want to have flawless skin you are going to want to have clean skin. Thoroughly cleansing your face morning and night will ensure that your skin is rid of excess oils and stop them from building up on your skin. Exfoliation is another must as it will extract deep into your pores and get rid of any unwanted oil. It will also minimize pores and make your skin smoother and softer.
Faking it till you make it: So lets say you have done all of the above but still no difference in the appearance of your skin. You are going to have to fake good skin. You’re probably thinking how do I do this? And thinking it’s too hard. Well you’re wrong you can easily fake perfect skin like faking a good nights sleep. You just need the right prducts.
Disguising dark circles: So you’ve woken up with shadows under your eyes and a bit of puffiness from a bad nights sleep. Concealer is your new best friend and a little bit of eye cream. Firstly you are going to want to get rid of the puffiness. If you are someone who is lacking an eye cream try this trick. Get a glass and fill it half way with ice then fill with water after your have done this grab two teaspoons. Put the spoons in the icy water and let them sit for about thirty seconds. Pull the spoons out and dry with paper towel and hold the spoons directly under you’re under eye area pushing gently into the skin. The coldness from the spoons will reduce the puffiness and shadows. After you have completed that or popped on some eye cream apply a concealer. Pick one that’s light in texture and is designed for the under eye area. Apply three to four dots beneath your lower lashes and use your finger to blend in. Your eye area is very delicate so be sure not to drag your finger instead pat lightly into the skin.
Redness: This is something some of us can’t avoid especially if you are the pale type like myself. I get quite red in the corners of my nose and my chin. To hide this you are going to want to use a thick concealer especially because the area around your nose and chin can get quite oily this will ensure it won’t slip off halfway through the day or night. To apply the concealer you are going to want to use a brush or a sponge I prefer to use my beauty blender to blend my concealer. You want to apply the concealer around the area of your nose in a triangle like shape then blend it outwards firstly with your finger tips to melt it into the skin then the rest with your brush or sponge.
Blemishes: The worst thing is waking up on the day of an event or party and finding a few new friends on your face. The one thing you should definitely avoid doing is squeezing the spot, you are just going to make it more aggravated and create unwanted redness. If I wake up with a spot of course the first urge I have is to squeeze it but sometimes you have to hold yourself back. The best thing to do is to have a warm shower cleanse and exfoliate, this is going to open your pores up and get rid of any unwanted oils. The next thing I do is dry my face and spray a fine mist of toner this will hydrate the skin and close the pores up. If I have any in my bathroom cabinet I’ll apply a small amount of tea tree oil, this will help dry the spot up and hopefully reduce it by the time you are getting ready for your night out. If by the time you are ready to apply make up and there is still an ugly spot, concealer will do wonders. Most people make the mistake of applying concealer to a spot using the wrong colour, you don’t want it to be too light or too dark. Pick a concealer that is closer to you’re skin tone and that’s not too creamy. You will want to apply it with a fine tipped brush and only apply a small dot onto the spot and the skin around it. Finish off with applying some matte powder, one that is transparent to set the concealer and take any shine away.
