25 Aug Beauty Travel Essentials
At the end of the week I’ll be travelling to the city that never sleeps (New York City), the city that started my obsession with fashion and make-up from Sex and the City to Breakfast at Tiffany’s. While organising my trip it got me thinking about the travel essentials, more importantly the Beauty Travel Essentials. Long distance traveling can cause some major beauty issues. Jet-lag being the worst. If our bodies don’t get enough rest during the long flight it can have a major impact on our skin. Such as bags and dark circles underneath the eyes, dehydrated skin, and sore itchy eyes. When arriving to your destiniation you want to be looking fab not drab so here are my go to beauty essentials to help you keep your skin glowing and radiant.
On the plane you don’t want to be lugging around a heavy case full of make-up and skin care, you want to make your travels simple and fuss free. Here are six beauty essentials you’ll want by your side while travelling:
Beauty Essential #1: Face Cream: When travelling on a lengthy flight there is no doubt your skin is going to loose its moisture due to many things including lack of sleep and the plane’s air-conditioning which can drain all the moisture from your skin. The Body’s Shop’s Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream is rich with wheat germ and cocoa butter. This cream will replenish and vitalise the skin while you snooze and will help replenish antioxidant and moisture levels over night. This cream is great because its long lasting and means you don’t have to constantly re-apply. $22.95 50ML
Beauty Essential #2: Foundation: When I fly I don’t particularly like to wear much on my skin especially foundation as I don’t want to have to be touching up through my flight. Although I still want to look my best when travelling, so I opt for something lighter such as a BB cream or tinted moisturiser. You want to wear something light and something that still hydrates your skin without wearing something that clogs your pores. The NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser is my favourite. When I first tried this product I was amazed at its coverage and its long-lasting ability, it’s as if I’m wearing foundation but it feels light as a feather on my skin. It also has a broad spectrum of SPF 30, which is great for when you are out and about in the sun. The oil free formula is infused with lush, naturally derived botanicals and ingredients that immediately help thirsty skin feel hydrated. This is the perfect product to take when travelling. You can purchase this product from any NARS store or online or Mecca Cosmetica. $56.00 50ML
Beauty Essential #3: Face Mist: To keep your skin even more hydrated and refreshed during your flight, face mist is a lifesaver for restoring the skins moisture balance. It’s like a drink for your skin. I use the Body Shop’s Vitamin E Face Mist, which is perfect ensuring that your arrive at your destination with healthy-looking, hydrated skin. $16.95 100ML
Beauty Essential #4: Lip Balm: Nourishing your lips is very important especially when flying as the air-conditioning on the plane can dry your lips resulting in cracked, chapped lips. Re-applying can be a bit of a pain so make sure you carry with you a long-lasting hydrating lip balm. I use Grown Alchemist Watermelon and Vanilla Lip Balm. $12.95 12ML
Beauty Essential #5: Hand Cream: Your hands can become quite dry while travelling and is essential to keep them moisturised and hydrated. Nobody likes the feeling of dry hands or wicks (the skin peeling around your nail cuticles). The Body Shop’s Hemp Hand Protector is by far one of the best hand creams on the market. The Hand cream is made from hemp seed oil and beeswax, which forms a protective layer on the skin to help limit moisture loss and improve skin resilience. I love this hand cream because it it absorbs so easily into the skin and instantly smooths and softens the skin. $17.95 100ML, $8.95 30ML
Beauty Essential #6: Hand sanitizer: When travelling the last thing you want is to catch an illness such as a head cold or the flu, and it is quite common to pick these illnesses up if you are not careful. Hand sanitizer is a definite must have on the beauty essentials list. To minimise getting sick you will want this by your side. L’Occitane has recently brought out a hand sanitizer , which is enriched with organic verbena extract from Provence, which leaves behind an invigorating citrusy scent. This not only removes germs from your hands but also leaves them feeling fresh and hydrated. I especially love this sanitizer because it absorbs into your hands very quickly and doesn’t leave a sticky residue. Also it looks pretty trendy when you pull it out of your handbag rather than using generic sanitizers. You can purchase this sanitizer at your local L’Occitane store or online. $12.00 30ML
I hope these six fuss free beauty travel essentials help you through your upcoming travels.
Stay tuned for more upcoming posts on my trip to New York City.
Bon Voyage!
