23 Sep From the Runway to your Everyday Look
Two weeks ago I returned from New York City. I was also fortunate to attend the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, which as you can imagine was spectacular. Although Fashion Week might only last eight days so much happens in that short amount of time. Famous models strut down the runway, new beauty trends are created and of course A listers sit front row to watch it all unfold. With social media, Instagram and Twitter posts clogging up your feeds it’s easy to miss some of the most important things from fashion week, such as the celebrity sightings aka RiRi, Miley and Nicki Minaj just to name a few. So I thought I would bring to you the most up to date beauty trends from the runway and how you can transform these looks into your everyday look.
Marc Jacobs: Absolutely no make-up was worn at the Marc Jacobs show, Francois Nars opted to spend more time on skin care instead.Although this no make-up look has been popular on the runway most of us girls struggle to walk out the door without an ounce of make-up so here is my alternative.
For this look it is important to create a flawless base to achieve that model perfect skin. For the skin I used a nourishing moisturiser Nivea’s Refreshingly Soft Moisturiser Cream I then applied Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfecter which evens out your skin tone and smooths your pores. This product definitely gives you that ultra natural glow. Then to add coverage where you feel is needed I applied NARS Creamy Concealer to specific areas and blended with finger tips to achieve that natural no make-up looking skin. Through these steps you can achieve perfect, natural-glowing skin.
Calvin Klein: Make-up artist Pat McGrath created a polished look with groomed brows, perfected skin and a hint of pink on the lips. This look is similar to Marc Jacobs but with a bit more colour in the face.
In this look I used the same products previous to create that perfect dewy skin but instead of using concealer I used a little bit of foundation to cheat that perfect skin look. I used Make Up For Ever High Definition Foundation. This foundation gives your skin that polished clean look. To fake thick brows I used the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz and Dip Brow Pomade to cheat that thick brow look. To add a natural pop of colour to the face a I used Dior’s Diorskin Rosy Glow in the colour petal which gives the skin that healthy natural glow. For the lips I used Revlon’s Colour Burst Lacquer Balm in the colour Coquette.
Michael Kors: Models looked healthy and glowing as ever with Make-up artist Dick Page creating a bronzed look enhanced with brown liner on the eyes and a pink hue on the lips.
How to cheat bronzed skin: To achieve that bronzed glowy skin I kept it fairly simple and used Chanel’s Soleil Tan De Chanel Bronze Universal. This product instantly warms the skin up and gives the skin a bronzed healthy, natural glow from within. This look is a perfect beach look but to turn into a night look contour the hollows of your cheeks to achieve that killer bone structure of a model and to really lift and illuminate your skin I used The Balm’s Mary-Lou Manizer. I didn’t use any liner on the eyes as loved the look of the bronzer and illuminator by itself but if you did want to use eyeliner I would recommend MAC’s eye pencil in Coffee this eye liner is so easy and friendly to use as it smudges really well to create a smokey effect.
Narcisco Rodriguez: Make-up artist Dick Page chose eyeliner as the focus of this look applying a strong black line from the half way point of the upper and lower lids to the outer corners, with extra in the outer crease of the lid.
How to pull off bold liner: In this look I used MAC’s eye pencil in smoulder again this pencil is soft and easy to move on the eye but has amazing staying power and will last entire day or night out. I applied the liner to the lid of the eye and smudged with a pencil brush to give a smokey effect then applied it to the water line and in the bed of the bottom lashes and smoked it out with the brush, then topped lashes with a few coats of mascara. This look is so easy to do and perfect to wear on a night out you can literally do it five minutes and your eye make up is done.
Vera Wang: Lucia Pieroni created a plum toned smokey eye with a small amount of mascara to define.
How to pull off plum smokey eyes: For this look I used the Too Faced Chocolate palette which has a couple of plum toned shades. I wanted to create something easy and wearable and went for a hazy smokey eye, very little is on the face so the attention is drawn to the eyes. Firstly you want to apply a base to your eye lids I used MAC’s painterly paint pot. I blended the colours Amaretto and Cherry Cordial together on the top of the eye lid and smudged underneath the eye to create that hazy effect. Then I applied a little mascara to define the eyes. This look is definitely on trend at the moment and can work well with lots of colours and is even a perfect summer look.
Donna Karen: Make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury used grey and brown shades to define eyes whilst a pale nude shade was applied to the lips. Skin was dewy and contoured with highlights on the cheekbones nose and eyes.
This look is simple and easy to create. Again I used the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecter to create a dewy finish to the skin and then applied Make Up For Ever HD foundation to perfect the skin even more so. To contour and highlight the skin I used the Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel Bronze Universal and The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer. On the eyes I used Urban Decay’s Naked palette and blended grey and brown shades to create a smokey, hazy effect on the eyes.
Diane Von Frustenberg: Bombshell inspired, Bridget Bardot beauty was the order of the day with Pat McGrath giving models sexy smokey eyes and nude lips.
For a smokey smouldering eye I used colours from the Naked palette as well as MAC’s eye pencil in smoulder to smudge and smoke out the eyes to get that Bardot sexy eye. If the look is too dark for your liking you can definitely tone it down and use lighter motions when applying with a brush.
These looks are all simple and easy to follow and you can definitely adapt them to you liking from day to night. Although not all of us may strut down the runway we can definitely recreate the models looks and feel like we own the catwalk.
